Can’t find a college or course??

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Hiya

Everyday we get tons of requests of courses and colleges which you want to add to Collegespeaks. It’s an excellent sign for us as it shows an increasing acceptance and enthusiasm for Collegespeaks.

We look forward to all your requests and will be glad if we could add every college, irrespective of its size, location and discipline, to Collegespeaks. Although we keep adding on to our database by making use of all known resources, but nothing better than coming straight from our members who are right there pursuing these courses.

One thing that I would like to add here is, please provide the complete name and location of the college, so that we can give you a quicker response in getting it added. You can also be a little extra nice by giving us some further information too, and you may never know we could be including a new addition to our points feature and start giving bonus points for that extra bit of information, the condition being it has to be right. Well, that’s only an idea which has struck me just now and there’s nothing official about it yet. But you guys, keep sending your college and course requests and don’t forget to reply back to those emails that we send for clarifying certain things about your requests.

Campus Reps

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Campus Reps is the opportunity which helps you chisel your networking and communication skills, something most in demand these days for your career progress.

A Campus Rep is the point of contact for Collegespeaks for that particular college. As a Campus Rep, you will bring a steady inflow of members to Collegespeaks and enhance the activities on Collegespeaks by regularly posting Quotes, Grades, Announcements etc. Both the Campus Rep and the members have their share of rewards based on their activities.

To become a Campus Rep, one needs to be a member of Collegespeaks. It is also important that as a Campus Rep, you have your profile complete with your picture (ideally your own picture), a brief description of yourself and some Quotes posted for your college.

Once selected, you will receive a starter kit with our tee-shirt, bag and other handy things. You will now come up with interesting ideas to evoke your campus people to join Collegespeaks, tell them how they can earn points and convert those points into rewards. You will verify members from your campus, distribute freebies and thus encourage them to re-visit Collegespeaks. All the way, we will support you wherever you need, either with the freebies or any other technical assistance. As a Campus Rep, you will be a part of the Collegespeaks Team.

Your targets will be to bring at least 50 members from your campus and contribute at least 1000 quotes through the members. Any member who agrees, disagrees or wants to take further a Quote posted by another member is free to do so by posting comments against Quotes. This way an outsider would get a complete overview of your college.

Even after achieving your target, you can continue bringing more members from your college, so that you can participate in the lucky draw for the best Campus Rep of the year, who wins a laptop. You will realise that during this whole process, you have given an edge to your CV with real life experiences to support your leadership, networking and negotiation skills, which will be very helpful irrespective of what career you choose.

If you think you have the enthusiasm and energy to take up this challenge, apply now to become a Campus Rep for Collegespeaks. All the very best for your endeavour!!!

Your identity on Collegespeaks

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

I thought this would be a better way of addressing the queries that we get through our contact sections and other websites. New users keep asking us- ‘Now that we have registered with Collegespeaks, what next?’

Unlike social networking sites, where a user’s arena extends to everything from making friends to expanding professional network, Collegespeaks caters to this niche segment where a user can find everything about Indian campuses.

Your identity on Collegespeaks is therefore associated with the college(s) you have attended or are still attending. It is extremely important that you be a part of a campus that you have actually been to because only then you will be able to share your campus experiences and also stay connected with your campus even after passing out. Sharing campus experiences will then become a trend that will be carried on by your juniors. You will be verifying your immediate juniors and the others whom you can recognize from the time you were in college. You can even guide your juniors or any other prospective student, who is interested in joining your college, about the future career prospects after passing out from your alma-mater.

Once this chain is established, you will always be able to keep track of the changes your college has gone through - you can see how your annual function is now celebrated, the professors who are still teaching or some of your batchmates who have turned professors and many more interesting facts. So keep posting…..
